Stripping Magnet Wire
How to Strip and Tin Magnet Wire:
Get out the Soldering Station!
The magnet wire we use is coated with a heat sensitive coating/insulation. To get the coating off you need to get a little blob of solder on the tip of your iron. Pierce the wire about 1-2 mm into the molten solder, the coating should roll up the copper wire and leave you with nice shinny tinned wire. Do not go to fast or the coating will not have time to melt and it will not roll up but rather bake in in place and then its more work to get it clean.

Then use some liquid flux or flux paste and a toothpick to apply it to the pads you want to solder to. Heat the pad for a moment and apply a small amount of solder. Then put the tinned wire on the top of the solder pad and give it a quick tap. (0.5 seconds) This will submerse the wire in the solder and it will cool hard in just a moment.
